UPDATE 9 MARCH 2022
???????? ???? ????????????? ????????????
We are delighted to announce that we have smashed our fundraising target for the community defibrillator for the Fircroft Road Shopping Parade and the defibrillator has now been ordered!!
We wanted to THANK everyone one for their amazing support and donationsWe set a target of £2000 but managed to raise a whopping £2900 which means we have managed to fund:
• A top of the range defibrillator
• A locked and heated cabinet
• AND we can now, fund the defibrillator for the next 5 years, including replacement parts and insurances
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone in our local community who helped & got involved in the project, all our very generous clients, all the local shops who helped us to fundraise, local parade shoppers who donated in the collection boxes and councillors Sam Murray and David Goldsmith who very kindly helped towards the fundraising to the tune of £1200 and also The Community Heartbeat Trust.
The defibrillator is on order (it’s expected to take several weeks) as soon as we have it, we will update again…we are working with the East of England Co-Op to arrange the installation as soon possible…
Thank you the team @ Fircroft Hairdressing
ORIGINAL POST:
Fircroft Hairdressing have initiated a fundraising project for our local community and shopping parade. Our neighbourhood amenities are used by hundreds of local residents every day, and is an integral hub for thousands of surrounding houses.
We believe it would be an important and worthy idea to raise the funds required for an automated external defibrillator (“AED”) to be installed on the parade. We sincerely hope that the device doesn’t have to be used, but in the event of someone nearby having a sudden cardiac arrest (“SCA”), or commonly known as a heart attack, it could be a lifesaver. Therefore, it is an essential addition to our busy community and benefit to our whole neighbourhood.
What is a defibrillator?
An AED is an advanced medical tool that delivers a high energy, electric shock to the heart through the chest wall. It is an essential piece of life-saving equipment for someone who is suffering SCA. Using a defibrillator within 3-5 minutes of SCA can increase chances of survival from 6% to 74%. This can be achieved by public access and onsite defibrillators, which is what we are raising funds for.
What we are hoping to do
In short, we are looking to raise £2,000 – That may sound like a lot… but this is what is required to cover the cost of the defibrillator, a locked cabinet to house the equipment and the installation of the defibrillator. The proposed location is near the Amazon lockers at the Fircroft Road shopping parade, near to the car park & Man on the Moon pub.
We have already secured the backing of the East of England Co-Op for the project, who have very kindly agreed to allow the installation to the exterior of their food store, pick up the initial electrical costs for the installation of the AED and will also undertake the necessary weekly compliance check of the equipment.
How can I help
We have many exiting things planned as part of the fundraising project so keep checking our website and social media profiles and we will release details of these events in due course.
In the meantime, if you simply want to help you can do so by donating anything you can!
You will see Red Collection Boxes popping up in the shops on the parade in the coming days so please pop any spare change into these. You can also donate by popping into our salon at 151 Fircroft Road, Ipswich or online via JustGiving by clicking Donate below:
